Catwalks, fashion talks and meeting local designers, and stylists was such a great experience in the last two weeks spent at Fashion Forward Dubai and Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience (VFDE).
This year's events had big guns like Miroslava Duma (Buro 24/7), Silvia Venturini Fendi (Creative Director Fendi), Imran Amed (BOF) and Huda Kattan (Huda Beauty) for fashion talks.
Fendi's advice to new designers that 'you should not follow trends that don't belong to you', was one of the key takeaways from her talks that I absolutely swear by when it comes to style too. Petite fashion power Miroslava Duma was most amazing, super friendly and down to earth. It was exciting to see her in person and she looks even better face-to-face. She shared her mantra to success "work hard and never give up" and although cliched I totally believe in it.
I hate to confess, but until the Fashion Forward I had no idea about Huda. I did see her lashes at Sephora but wasn't aware she was so popular until I attended her talk. I am not really fond of many Middle Eastern women, as they always look a little too high headed but after listening to Huda at Fashion Forward, where she shared how she started, how passionate she is about what she does and looking at her energy and super-friendly behavior I can say she is amazing. Her enthusiasm and passion is contagious!
The Middle East designers presented their Spring Summer 2016 collections during Dubai Fashion Week and the whole fashion scene was very different from Mumbai and Delhi. Lesser crowd, on a smaller commercial scale than India but watching style of the OTT clan of Middle East fashionistas with their perfectly contoured makeup and bold eyes was fascinating.
Here's what I wore at one of the events during fashion week.

We all splurge on a metallic clutch for the best evening parties and end up storing it in the back of the closet, because we don't know where to wear it? You must try wearing your dressy metallic and bling bags paired with day outfits. It instantly lifts up your look, and gives you a way to wear the bag too. I wore my Stella bag with a basic black and blue dress and totally loved how they looked so good together.
