We are consuming massive amounts of data everyday, and our consumption has multiplied during the quarantine period. Even people who were low data users in pre-corona days are now found scrolling on their devices all-day consuming information. That's a lot of information........
Now, the important question we all need to ask ourselves is - Are we feeding ourselves with a healthy data diet?
My guess is the answer is NO.
Besides all the binge watching of series we are indulging in and the Instagram stories and feed that we are watching, let us use this time we have to also learn about mindfulness and create positive habits that will transform our lifestyle for the better.

My inquisitiveness has helped me transform my habits and lifestyle and a large part of the credit goes to some of the amazing documentaries that I have watched over the years. For example, when I first watched the documentary The True Cost, I was shocked to see the dark side of the fashion industry, which we are often oblivious to. How the companies are exploiting people and the planet, and how we have been conditioned to look the other way and indulge in consumerism. After that movie, I could never look at fashion the same way again. Every time I bought something, especially from the likes of Zara, H&M and Topshop, I was reminded of how my clothes were made and who was paying the brunt of cheap prices and new collections coming in nearly every week and ultimately where do my clothes end up {in landfills}. From then on, I have transformed my fashion habits and, now, I am more conscious of what kind of brands I vote with my money, how much I shop and how often do I use the items I buy.
Needless to say, one of my favorite ways to continue learning about the environmental and sustainable realities we face today, is watching educational documentaries. So here I am sharing a list of documentaries on Netflix that I highly recommend.

Why should I watch these documentaries?
The information in these documentaries and films have the power to transform our lives for the better. Whether we care about sustainability and the environment or not, the truth is it affects each one of us directly. Our actions {and inactions} are affecting everything from the air we breathe and the water we drink to the foods we eat and the products we consume. Hence, it also affects the well-being of our mind and body. These films help us understand this impact and inspires us to act.
For example, the film The Plastic Ocean shows the devastating affect excess plastic consumption is having on our oceans. Not only does this documentary cover the severity of the damage to the oceans, but also to humans, by contaminating our drinking water and excreting chemicals that are causing and spreading disease. So next time when you will reach out to a single-use plastic item mindlessly, there will be a voice in your head, reminding you that its unnecessary and will request you to carry reusable items like reusable water bottle, coffee mug and cutlery. The great thing is, it will also give you a high from being the force for good.
Another great documentary is What The Health, which emphasizes the connection between diet and disease, linking to the pharmaceutical industry and the dangerous affects it has on health. Now, unless we don't educate ourselves on these topics and continue to live the way we have been living, things will not change. Companies are not going to change the way they produce and what sort of ingredients they put in the foods and products we consume, because their interest is in revenues and profits. Our health and well-being of the people and planet is not on their agenda. We can't keep poisoning ourselves and our ecosystem in the name of capitalism.
Let's create a circle of positivity. How? Watch these inspiring films, give them a shoutout on your social media, inspiring others to watch too.
I invite you all to watch at least one of these movies (that you haven't already seen before) and share your experience on your social platform.
Let us inspire and get inspired for a #PositiveChange.
P.S. - If you are not on Netflix, you can find some of these documentaries on YouTube as well, like the Hasan Minaj episode on fast fashion.
